Has anybody created a game installer yet allowing people to share games without the pain of intsalling them one by one?

Hmm this is something that I have not thought of.

A brilliant idea though. It will solve alot of pains and will make the uploading of all the games possible.

I will speak with my programmers and will tell you what the results are.

well i have started but as i'm new to programming its taking longer then i thought. The problem i'm having is the gId section getting is to use the next number.
I'm sure a professional programmer can do this quite easily

Good news guys.

We are currently developing the games installer.

It will have the following features.

1. Manual adder - You will upload all the swf and png files into specific folders and then when started, the installer will only ask you to write description for each game and pusn next.

2.Auto adder - You will specify a unified sentenced which will be used as description for all the games and then when started, the installer will insert the games data into the db. This is a more rough approach, but with this you will be able to add thousands of games in no time.

If anyone has any suggestions, now its the time to make them.

Ok the game installer is officially finished!

We will test it a day or two.

Regarding the question with the descriptions, the thing which we could do is make the script look for text files, which have the same name as the swf files and extract the text and inputs it as description.

The other method would be to extract the text from a xls file or something similar.

Ok before I officially release this games installer, I would like to know if there is anyone who might want to help with the testing.

I have tested the script and it runs pretty smooth. However it is always good to test it under different environments, and this is why I prefer to be 100% sure that it will be fully working with everyone before officially releasing it.

Just pm me and I will send it to you along with instructions.

Ok I have sent the beta version of the installer to the people who asked to participate. Testing period will be 1 week. I will ask the people who are testing it to post their experience here. If everything is alright, I will distribute the installer to everyone.

May be I am to silly but here the installer does not work. Each time i start
it, a window pops up and I have to decide to download something or not.

I have to check this again.

I have finished my testing of the installer

The manual installer works great and the auto installer works with 10, 20,50 100, 1000, or even 4500 games
